How long will the divorce process last?
In cases of a joint divorce Florida law says that only 20 days must pass from date of filling before the divorce can be final.
If the divorce is contested, meaning that both parties are not in agreement it can take much longer.


Can my Spouse and I use the same attorney?
In cases where both parties seek to share same counsel it is forbidden because of client and attorney confidentiality.

Do I have to go to court?
Normally it depends on the county but some counties do not have a need for court, though if children are involved most of the time there is a requirement for court.  

How long do I have to live in Florida before I can file for divorce?
In the state of Florida there is a 6 month residency requirement unless one of the parties is an active military member.

Where do I file for a divorce?
Depending on many factors such as children and if both parties reside in same county, state or even country can have an impact on where the divorce must be filed.

Can I move out of the Marital Residence?
It is better to speak with an attorney on your particular case to if it is better to stay or leave

Am I required to attend a parenting course?
All parents are required by court to attend a parenting class when involved in cases of divorce

What happens to the engagement ring?
An engagement ring prior to marriage is a non-marital asset.  The wife gets to keep
the engagement ring.

What happens to the family pet?
The pet is considered personal property and must be awarded to one spouse or the other. There is
no custody or visitation for a family pet


What happens to the house?
Like all assets they must be agreed upon or awarded to one spouse or dived at the judges discretion
